Terms of service

Last updated 23 October 2026

These terms apply to the Reccon application at app.reccon.io, its workspace addresses and the Reccon desktop app, and to our website reccon.io (together, "the service"). Reccon B.V. ("Reccon", "we") provides the service. If you use it, you accept these terms. If your firm has a signed agreement with Reccon, that agreement wins where it differs from these terms.

1. The service

Reccon is software for accounting firms. A firm uses it to collect and file its own records and its clients' records, to prepare bookkeeping work, and to communicate with its clients. The service is for businesses and the people who work for them, not for consumers.

2. Accounts

  • A firm gives people access to its workspace by inviting them. The firm decides who can see which clients and records.
  • Keep your sign-in safe. Do not share your account. You are responsible for what is done with it.
  • Tell us at once at hello@reccon.io if you think someone else used your account.
  • Give correct information when you create an account.

3. Your firm's data

  • The firm owns the data it puts into Reccon or connects to it. We get no ownership of it.
  • The firm gives Reccon the right to store, copy and process that data only to provide the service to the firm, as set out in our privacy policy and the data processing agreement with the firm.
  • The firm confirms that it may give us this data, including its clients' data, and that it has told the people concerned as the law requires.
  • We do not use the firm's data to train general AI models.

4. Connected services

A firm can connect services such as Google, Microsoft, Dropbox, Exact Online, Moneybird, King, Zoho Books, Slack, Ponto and Plaid. The firm's own agreement with each provider applies to that service. We are not responsible for those services, for their availability, or for changes they make. The firm can disconnect a service at any time. Reccon then stops reading it.

5. Drafts and AI results

The service uses AI models to read documents, sort them, draft bookkeeping entries and replies, and answer questions. These results can be wrong or incomplete. They are drafts.

  • A person in the firm must check a result before the firm relies on it.
  • Reccon posts an entry or sends a message only after a person approves it, or where the firm has chosen to let a specific agent act on its own. The firm is responsible for that choice.
  • The service is not accounting, tax or legal advice. A member firm that gives such advice does so under its own engagement terms and its own licence.

6. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • use the service against the law, or to process data you have no right to process;
  • try to get access to a workspace, record or account that is not yours to open;
  • test, probe or attack the security of the service without our written permission;
  • overload the service, or collect data from it automatically except through the ways we provide;
  • upload malware;
  • copy, change or reverse-engineer the software, except where the law allows it.

7. Changes and availability

We improve the service all the time, so features change. If we remove a feature that a firm depends on, we tell the firm before we do it. We try to keep the service available, but we do not promise that it never stops, unless a signed agreement with the firm says so.

8. Fees

Fees, if any, are as agreed in writing between Reccon and the firm.

9. Our software

Reccon owns the service, its software and its design. We give the firm and its users the right to use the service while the firm has access to it. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.

10. Warranties and liability

We provide the service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we give no other warranty, for example that the service fits a specific purpose.

To the extent the law allows, Reccon is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost data, and Reccon's total liability is limited to the fees the firm paid for the service in the 12 months before the event. These limits do not apply to loss caused by intent or gross negligence, or to any liability the law does not let us limit.

11. Suspension and ending

  • We can suspend access if someone breaks these terms, or to protect the security of the service or of other firms. Where we can, we tell the firm first.
  • A firm can stop using the service as agreed with us.
  • When a firm's access ends, it can ask for an export of its data until we delete the data, which happens within 12 months, as the privacy policy says.

12. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies to these terms. The competent court in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, decides any dispute, unless a signed agreement with the firm says otherwise.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we change the date at the top. If a change is important, we tell the firms that use Reccon at least 30 days before it takes effect. Questions: hello@reccon.io.
